Shapes of urban landscapes – between idiography and typology focuses on the study of the components and interrelationships, structures and layers of urban landscapes in order to identify lasting generators of form and to develop a design repertoire that can be used to qualify urban landscapes. Thus it aims not only to describe urban landscapes generally, but to design them typologically and specifically. First their characteristics, dependencies and rules of formation as well as the interaction between natural morphologies, the textures of the cultural landscape and (sub)urban elements must be revealed.
