The Japan Architectural Study (JAS) is an architectural workshop that bridges Japan and overseas. Since 2015 the Tokyo Metropolitan University has been running the workshop “JaDAS (Japan and Denmark Architectural Studies),” which takes place in Denmark to make a collaboration work between Japan and Denmark. This year JAS aims to connect european and japanese students in Kunimi, Japan. Kunimi Town is located between the prefectures Fukushima and Miyagi.

The program is to propose architectural solutions to a local community or municipality. The students will not only think about the hard design (architectural outcome) but also soft design (political outcome) in order to solve specific problems. Divided into 3 or 4 groups, they will be working with Japanese students studying architecture or regional policy. During the stay participants will receive lectures or supervisions from several Japanese architects who are recently expanding their work internationally.

Duration: The program will begin on the 14th of July and end on 24th of July.

Fee: 680 Euro

Schedule: The students will develop design ideas and propose them at the end of the program. Please check the schedule constantly because it will be modified and more detailed as the date gets closer.

Deadline: 25th June (vacancy for 4 places)
