Photography Competition: 150 years of TUM – more international than ever


Since its founding in 1868, TUM has been an international university, attracting talent from all over the world. Today, with more than 9,000 international students on campus, TUM is a learning and innovation hub engaging participants from all over the world in a dynamic conversation. In light of the upcoming celebration of the 150th anniversary, the TUM International Center focuses this year’s photo contest on TUM’s strong international character: “150 years of TUM - more international than ever”

As an international student, employee or researcher (guest professors, lecturers, doctoral candidates) you have a unique perspective on TUM. Please submit photos which reflect how you experience TUM’s international atmosphere. Photos which show you in an international context are especially welcome!Set your imagination free and share your impressions and experiences of the university and your everyday life in and around Munich!

Successful submissions will be part of the 150th anniversary celebration and featured in the TUM International Center calendar in a print edition of 5,000 copies. The calendar will be distributed within TUM as well as to TUM’s partners.

Submissions must meet the following technical requirements

  • be in landscape format 
  • with a resolution of 300dpi 
  • dimensions of ca. 3508 x 2480 pixels
  • preferably in JPG or TIFF.

Additionally, please also provide a descriptive title for the photograph and approximately a three sentence narrative, which make clear the connection between the subject of the photograph and this year’s theme.

Following an initial selection made by a jury of TUM employees, all TUM students and employees will be invited in July to vote for their favorite pictures in an online vote. Winners will receive a coupon for a multimedia / photography store.
