The Johannes B. Ortner Foundation was founded in 2005 and promotes research projects by young researchers and academics from the natural sciences and technical professions, and architecture and structural engineering in particular, as well as the funding of TUM study and learning opportunities abroad. Johannes B. Ortner is an honorary member of the senate and a generous patron of “his TUM”.

The Johannes B. Ortner Prize is awarded for outstanding work by young researchers and academics in technical subjects and the natural sciences and aims to establish a tradition for honoring excellent scientific and academic performance. The prizewinner(s) receive 1000 Euro.
