Gender
The first female student of Architecture matriculated in the summer semester of 1907, following Bavaria's decision to allow women to study at Technische Hochschule in 1905. TUM now aims to become Germany's most attractive technical university for female students and scientists.
The Women's Representative advises and supports the Faculty's management, committees and administrative staff with regard to the implementation of the state's commitment to equal opportunities. In collaboration with the departments concerned and within the scope of her legal capacity, she draws up programs for the promotion of women in the academic units of the Faculty with a view to eliminating structural inequalities over the long term.
One task is to draw up the
Gender equality plan, designed to investigate the percentage of women students and scientists.
In addition, we will be happy to inform and advise you on such matters as:
- Maternity leave
- Parental leave
- Baby-friendly infrastructure at TUM – such as quiet rooms, breastfeeding and baby-changing rooms
- Promotional programs and scholarships for women (for example, the HWP program for equal opportunities for women in teaching and research)
- Seminars offered by the TUM Women's Representative
Gender distinction in Architecture and Urban Planning
Ever since 1997, the Women Representatives of the Faculty for Architecture have been organizing, coordinating and supporting the "Gender distinction in Architecture and Urban Planning" seminar. For an overview of all seminars that have been held so far, please go to
